Dr. Grace Austin Buchanan Holzman grew up in Batesville, Arkansas, a small town along the White River near the Ozark foothills. She attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville majoring in zoology, minoring in history, and graduating magna cum
laude. As her honors project, she studied sleep behavior in precocial birds and published a paper quantifying and qualifying duckling sleep. She was inducted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa her senior year.
Dr. Holzman attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She received the Barton Scholarship for academic excellence upon matriculation. During medical school, she published a paper on the efficacy of the Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib) vaccine.
Upon completion of medical school, Dr Holzman married Dr. Steven Holzman in 1994. The Doctors Holzman moved to Gainesville for their respective residencies at the University of Florida. She became board-certified in pediatrics and moved to Austin, Texas in 1997 to start her career. Along the way she raised two wonderful children (Arthur and Edith) who graduated from Westlake High School and are now making their way through college and law school.
Dr. Holzman enjoys exercise, yoga, gardening and driving the zero-turn mower at their farms in Elgin and northwest Arkansas.
Dr. Tammy McConnell was born in Michigan and has lived in California, Illinois, Hawaii, Arkansas, and Texas. She attended Texas Christian University where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biology. During college, she taught honors anatomy
at a local high school and worked with children with disabilities.
Dr. McConnell trained at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She passed both MD boards and DO boards. During her medical training, she received the Mead Scholarship for excellence in pediatrics. She completed her pediatric residency training at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, then promptly moved back to Texas.
Dr. McConnell has consistently been named a Texas Monthly Super Doctor and Austin Monthly’s Top Doctor in pediatrics. She has served the Austin community for over 15 years in private pediatric practice.
Dr. McConnell is blessed with a theatrical high school-aged daughter, Berkley, and an athletic son in middle school named Ryker. Dr. McConnell enjoys trying new restaurants, attending theater, dancing, hiking and playing with her three rescue animals.
Dr. Sarah Muela was born in Lafayette, Louisiana and raised in Houston, Texas. She grew up in a big family with deep Cajun roots where she developed her love of crawfish boils and zydeco music.
She majored in biomedical sciences at Texas A&M University and attended medical school at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. During medical school, she met her wonderful husband, James—an Austinite born and raised. He inspired her move to Austin where she had the pleasure of training at Dell Children’s Medical Center for pediatric residency.
Dr. Muela recognizes how sacred the family is and sees her main job as empowering and supporting parents as they care for their children. As an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, she is passionate about supporting breastfeeding mothers and their sweet babies. She also has a special interest in helping young girls understand the beauty of their bodies and cycles, and empowering parents to be a part of the conversation.
When she’s not in the office, Dr. Muela loves spending time with her family and pug, throwing the frisbee in Zilker Park, eating brunch at Matt’s El Rancho, and growing in her faith.
Dr. Lorri Powell was born in Buffalo, New York and quickly moved to Houston where she grew up. She graduated from Colorado College with distinction majoring in biology and minoring in studio art. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas
Health and Science Center in Houston where she published papers involving the coronary vascular system and genetic mutations. She and her family moved to Austin in 2009 where she completed her pediatric residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Pediatric Program. She became a board-certified pediatrician in 2012.
Dr. Powell developed a passion for global health care as she traveled in Central and South America providing free health care for underserved communities in clinics and orphanages during college. In 2004, she was awarded the Scheffler Grant, which funded a year in rural India working to provide vaccines, clean water supplies and general health care needs with local health care providers. Dr. Powell sits on the boards of multiple non-profit entities that promote children’s health and well-being.
In 2023 Dr. Powell was awarded both the Top Doctors Rising Stars of Texas and the Top Doctors in America Recognized for Excellence.
When Dr. Powell is not practicing medicine, she enjoys spending time as an amateur artist, listening to live music, practicing yoga, and exploring the outdoors with her husband TJ, daughters Parker and Cassidy and rescue dogs Zulu and Billy.

She has lived in Austin for 24 years, where she practiced in ObGyn for three years and has been a Pediatric nurse for over twenty years. Married for over 25 years, she has two sons and a daughter. In her free time, she enjoys reading, working crossword puzzles, camping, and hiking with their border collie.

Emily graduated with her BSN from UT Austin in 2008. Prior to joining CMG in 2019, she worked at the Hays County Health Department where she performed developmental screenings, assessments, and immunizations for children and their families. She’s been married for 18 years and has two children, two dogs, two cats, and several fish. Emily enjoys running, reading, cooking, road trips and spending time with her family.
